Maybe all you want is one afternoon on the beach, getting some of that Pacific Ocean sea air into your lungs. In reality most people will travel for a vacation, so a half day won't be nowhere near long enough, but the 2 day or less stay is very popular, albeit one thats naturally mostly taken up by Californians.
Cali has what most locations on vacation have; the usual entertainments like bars, clubs, restaurants, the museums and theme attractions. You could spend the days having a little higher paced fun, and return to an evening of quiet time on the beach and its magical sunsets.
One thing you can find on all these wonderful California beach vacations is a relaxed atmosphere, you can walk almost anywhere barefoot. Plus the Californian beach sunsets appear on posters on a regular basis - because they are special to see!
California's not all about sun and sand. Within a couple of hours drive you could be on top of a 7,000ft mountain - there are not many beach destinations that give you so much variety as Cali.
Attractions nearby like Disneyland and Seaworld are fun or the kids, and if you can't make up your mind if they would enjoy that type of holiday or a playing on the beach type one, you can combine the both! Most people choose one or the other though, maybe depending on the age of the children or the available budget for the trip.
In reality budget is never likely to be something that should put you off vacationing in California, there are a wide range of beach resorts offering accommodation for all prices, from 5 star to vacation rentals or even camping.
While most people go for beach vacations to enjoy the sea, there are other worthy pursuits like fishing and boating, to power boating and water skiing. Then theres the biggest association between California and the water - surfing!
It's the homeland of surfing in the US, and people gravitate there en masse from all over the world - many locations on the coast are full of the classic surf lifestyle, so if that isn't your style, best to not pick a dedicated surf resort.
California beach vacations have a large variety of appealing choices you'ld expect, and you could go back for year after year and have a different experience each time.
